Help us build a home for Windsor’s Footballing Future #BackThePitch, #BackTheKids

8 August 2025,

Today we are proud to launch our biggest community campaign yet, and we’re asking for your support to help make it a reality.

We’re calling it #BackThePitch, #BackTheKids, a campaign to raise awareness, rally community backing, and secure planning permission for a state-of-the-art 3G pitch at our home, Stag Meadow.

This is more than just a pitch. This is about giving Windsor’s young footballers a place to call home.

Visit our dedicated web page

Why do we need a 3G pitch?

Right now, our youth section, over 50 teams and more than 600 local boys and girls, train and play across a patchwork of sites across Windsor and Eton. Many of these pitches are poorly maintained, unlit, and often unplayable in bad weather.

Our senior Men’s and Women’s teams (both league champions last season) play at Stag Meadow, but with a natural grass surface, the pitch simply can’t support the level of use needed to welcome our youth teams, schools, and community programmes too.

A 3G artificial grass pitch would change everything:

  • Give Windsor & Eton Youth a permanent, safe and accessible home
  • Enable year-round use for local schools and community groups
  • Open the door to more football for girls, women, older adults, and those with disabilities

The evidence is clear

This isn’t just our opinion, it’s backed by local and national strategy:

  • The Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead (RBWM) 2024–2033 Sports & Leisure Strategy confirms a shortfall of 2 full-size 3G pitches in Windsor, rising to 3 in future.
  • The RBWM Playing Pitch Strategy (2023) identifies Stag Meadow as a priority site for 3G investment.
  • The Football Foundation’s Local Football Facility Plan (April 2025) also identifies the same shortfall, and also names Stag Meadow as a priority location.

Public Consultation

A 21 day public consultation period will begin on 10th September and end on 1st October 2025.

We’ll be hosting an in-person consultation meeting for residents at Stag Meadow on Wednesday 10th September from 6.30pm – 9.30pm.

This is your chance to view the plans, ask questions, and give your feedback directly.

A set of FAQs will be released ahead of the consultation period and an online feedback survey will be available for residents for the duration of the 21 day consultation. In the meantime any questions can be directed to comms@wefc.co.uk and please keep visiting our webpage wefc.co.uk/consultation

Let’s build this together

Windsor deserves a football facility that reflects the passion and dedication of its players, parents, coaches, and community.

This pitch will serve thousands of young people over the next decade and beyond. With your support, we can make sure it gets the green light.

#BackThePitch, #BackTheKids

Let’s give Windsor football a home to be proud of.
