Windsor & Eton Football Club was formed in 1892 by a merger of Windsor Phoenix and Windsor St. Albans and played at StagMeadow from 1911. They had a proud history includingnumerous FA Cup runs until they hit harder times and werewound up with large debts in 2011.
Now a new club, also called Windsor & Eton Football Club, hasbeen formed, and been granted a lease for Stag Meadow. It hasbeen set up as a Community Interest Company, which ensuresthat its purpose is to serve the community and is a jointventure between Windsor Youth Club and former Windsorplayer and manager Mark Cooper.
Our new club’s ambition is to make Stag Meadow a stadium tobe proud of, including an artificial playing surface to transformits community usage irrespective of age, gender anddisability, and also for our men’s team to reach the NationalLeague structure.
Of course, as a new club we’re starting near the base ofthe football league pyramid but with volunteer support, community engagement and focussed management we’relooking forward to a rewarding adventure together as weput Windsor & Eton back on the football map. We’d love you to join us on our journey.
