Interview: Cathy Corr

25 August 2025,

For those wanting to know when the Women’s team return, we managed to grab a few minutes with Manager Cathy Corr this week.

The season isn’t far away and remember all Women’s Senior team home league and cup matches are played here at Stag Meadow. Keep Sundays at 2:00pm free!

Last season was exceptional. Was it as expected or beyond expectations?

“It really was something special for us. It went beyond what we’d hoped for. We set high standards, but the way the team came together, the performances we put in, and the support we received from the club made it even better than expected. Winning the league was a huge achievement for the girls. The players and management should be incredibly proud.”

Has pre-season started?

“Pre-season is already underway and the energy in the group is fantastic. We’ve got several friendlies lined up to get us ready for the new campaign and we’ll be sharing all the dates and details very soon on the WEFC website, so keep an eye out!”

A higher division this coming season. Do you expect it to be tougher?

“Moving up into a higher division is an exciting challenge. We know it’s going to be tougher — there’s quality right across the league — but that’s what we want. We’ve done our homework on the opposition, and we’re determined to compete at the highest level we can.”

Have you invited all players from last season back?

“We’ve invited players from last season back, and it’s been great to see so many familiar faces in training. We have also managed to make lots of new signings to strengthen the squad and give us even more depth for the season ahead.”

Will you set a target for the new season?

“As for targets, we’ll always aim high but for us it’s about more than just points or league position. The goal is to keep progressing, to develop the team, and to see our girls’ and women’s section continue to grow. If we do that, the results will take care of themselves. It’s going to be a big season, and we can’t wait to get started!”
