This week we thank Lucas Lindstrup for his time. Lucas has progressed from our Under 18 set-up to become a regular in the first team squad. He is still very much involved with the 18’s however!
A creative midfielder, but is that his best position?
“My best position is in the 10, in my opinion. I enjoy playing anywhere in central midfield but especially more attacking minded, so I can add goals and assists to my game. I’m strong at dribbling and my hunger to win is definitely an asset. There are always areas to improve on and I’d say I can improve my decision making. That will come with experience, I’m sure.”
And did you expect to see first team action this season?
Definitely! I knew I could play first team football, but sometimes it can be hard as a youngster for coaches to trust you. However, with the coaches here there is a definite pathway for younger players to excel and get that chance. I wanted to add more goals to my game this season, which I have done, more than tripling my tally from last season, which I’m very happy with.”
How has the transition from the previous U18 Management team to George and the team been?
“All the squad thank Nick (Hull) and the other coaches for all the hard work they have put in over the years and appreciate it a lot. The transition has been good, the players trust and believe in George, and the coaches, and what they have planned for us. I believe the team feel more united and hopefully we can carry on pushing on for the rest of the season.”
Any differences in coaching?
“The biggest difference I’d say is the intensity and focus. With new management coming in, they will want to implement their playing and coaching styles. I would say the lads are more focused in training and on match day, which is good to see.”
What’s next for you?
“After this season, I am going to the USA on scholarship to play College Soccer and can’t wait to get out there and see what the future holds!”
