This week a player who’s been at Stag Meadow for some time since his move from Hilltop.
We’ve not had the opportunity to speak with Bruno (Dos Santos) until now! A pre-season interrupted by injury, but what was the problem?
“During pre-season I damaged my biceps femoris – which is one of your three hamstring muscles. It runs from your pelvis down the outer back of your leg, to your lower leg bone. It helps you bend your knee, which I had popped during pre-season! After about 6 weeks of recovery and strengthening, I’m finally able to play and get back to 100% fitness.”
We’ve seen you operate in midfield, what do you think (or know) is your best position?
“For me, I have always played in the midfield as a number 6 or a number 8. Sometimes even a number 10. But I would have to say my best position is the 8.”
What are you good at and what would you like to be better at?
“I have always worked hard on being good on the ball, one of my greatest strengths is driving with the ball, helping the team get up the pitch when we need it the most. I want to and will need to add goals to my game. Get on the scoresheet more often.”
Have you set yourself a personal target for the season?
“After a slow start due to injury this season, my personal target is to get around 10-15 goals from midfield.”
Who would you have as the first name on your WEFC team sheet and who’s your noisiest team mate?
“Ben Hutch would be the first on my team sheet. You know what you’re getting with him week in and week out, and for me that’s important. Sam Hutch is definitely the noisiest, especially on the pitch!”
Describe yourself in five words?
“Shy, organised, loyal, driven & curious.”
Any footballing superstitions?
“Oh yes. Just before the bell rings for us to line up and walk out to the pitch I need to always go for a wee, and I have to make sure I’m always one of the last ones to walk out the changing rooms – not sure why but been doing it for years now.”
Who’s the best player you’ve played with in a team?
“For me it would have to be Saidou Khan. He was a League 2 player a few years back with Swindon Town. He’s now playing professionally in Tunisia. Learnt a-lot from him, amazing player.”
Away from Football, what do you do for a living/study?
“I work as a delivery driver at Tesco currently.”
Which pro club do you support?
“Manchester united, the best player I’ve seen play for them would have to be Cristiano Ronaldo.”
And, if you could be a pro at any sport other than football, what sport?
“That’s a hard one, but I would have to say Basketball. It’s my second favourite sport to watch and I think they are amazing athletes.”
