Windsor & Eton U18s v Southall U18s

Match Report

“An amazing performance last night from every single player. The lads remained disciplined and stuck to the key principles we set out in the lead up to the game. To play a full time academy and put them to the sword, is an amazing achievement particularly with the young players involved last night.

We worked for a couple of weeks on nullifying the opposition by stopping overloads and the boys executed that brilliantly. Yes, we could have been a bit more composed on the ball but as a whole I’m really pleased with everyone. We were unfortunate not to get the three points but that performance against a side that are top of the league was really impressive and a credit to the lads and how hard they train and listen to our instructions and methods. Which is also a huge credit to Matty, Mitch and Kit on my management team who have been pushing these lads to be the best version of themselves on and off the pitch.

Fantastic again to see our younger players from our U16’s shine with Theo and Henry starting again for us and a big congratulations to George Williams on his U18’s debut. George has been training with us since January and training well. He really didn’t look out of place at all when he came off the bench.

Ryan Beavis was also a huge highlight for me as well. Seeing him take ownership and continue to be a leader in our team is great to see. He’s been training with the First Team lately and definitely is using that experience to benefit his U18’s side too.

We’re now looking to build on this impressive performance into Monday night’s game away to Harrow Borough.

Thank you to everyone that braved the cold last night to come watch and cheers us on, it means so much to these players and to us as a management team.”
