Matt puts pen to paper ahead of the big Bank Holiday Monday derby game.
Good morning All!
It’s been a tough run so far playing some very good sides and it has certainly taken its toll on our squad with us very stretched across the board. Result wise (at time of writing) we have 4 wins out of 5 so that’s really pleasing – still slightly a bitter taste in the mouth from the Oxhey trip, but we have bounced back well and looking forward to the games ahead. From a performance perspective we have played well in spells and one thing we can’t question is the work rate and commitment of this squad of players. I know the potential we have in the squad and think we haven’t got out of 3rd gear yet.
We have had a tough run of fixtures which has brought many injuries, unfortunately to some key players. We lost Toby from the first game against Penn, turning his ankle and we lost three players from the Chalfont game. JT to a dead leg, JJ to a another turned ankle and Ben Hutch to a back problem. We are hoping to have 2 of them back for the weekends run of games and have some players back from these August holidays (which players never had in my day)!!
At this current time, we are in discussions with a couple of players that we have taken a liking too and if they come off, we will of course inform everyone via the various social media channels. We have had a lot of players coming to us, which is fantastic, but they have to fit our type of player and of course improve the existing squad.
Onto today’s game, we had Windsor watched early in the season, but at that particular game they had multiple Beaconsfield players playing, and I do think it’s hard to work out what side they will name given the tie between the two clubs. However, they have had a good start to the season, and they will of course pose lots of threats within their line-up. We will have to be at our best to come away with 3 points in a game that means a lot to everyone involved.
