Welcome to our visitors, Bearsted, who currently sit second in the very strong Southern Counties Premier League. Our supporters will remember well that we faced VCD from the same division in the FA Vase last season.
Over the past few weeks, we’ve continued our unbeaten run now stretching to ten games in all competitions. The lads have shown excellent resilience, even when performances haven’t been at their best, with our 3–0 home win against Wallingford standing out as a real highlight.
After a disappointing first half performance against Abingdon United last week, Saturday saw one of the fastest starts I’ve witnessed since joining the club, three goals in the first six minutes! You could tell the lads were fired up and out to prove a point.
A few player updates to mention:
We wish Adam Crocker all the best as he takes a step back due to a hectic university schedule. Ben Hutch is suspended, AD (Alex Donville) has a hamstring injury but should return to training in the next few weeks. Bakai has been a beast in training but is unavailable due to family commitments, Emile has been out with an ankle injury but it’s great to see him back in training this week. Enzo has also returned to non-contact training after a knock sustained on his debut. Conaill has recovered well from his horrific injury against Wallingford and is back in training, sporting the iconic Petr Čech-style headwear!
We’re also delighted to welcome Aiden Payne-James to the club. Aiden has already shown in training why he’s so highly regarded locally, having impressed at Ascot United last season. Expect a quick player who carries the ball well and is ruthless in front of goal.
A big thank you to Tracy Cooper and her team for putting on a fantastic Halloween Social last weekend. It was a great day — carved pumpkins, three points, and a brilliant, well-attended club social to round it off.
