The last couple of weeks have brought a real mix of results, starting strongly with eight goals scored in two games, followed by a couple of anticlimactic draws.
Looking back, though, with key players like Ben Hutch, Sam Hutch, Thummers, AD, Issy and Toby Bridges unavailable, the fact we remained tough to beat is a huge positive and shows what a brilliant squad of players we have. It was great to see us back on winning form last week even with the post working against us.
Being disappointed with two draws shows just how hungry this group is for success. A strong defensive foundation is the backbone of any good side, and because of how high our expectations are, it’s easy to forget how far we’ve come in such a short space of time. This club has earned back-to-back promotions from step 7 to step 5, and with our recent last-minute win against Milton going seven games unbeaten in the league is a real credit to this group of players’ resilience and quality.
We’ve also got some exciting news this week with the signing of forward Jabir Laraba, who joins us from Step 4 side Flackwell Heath. Jabir brings excellent link-up play and a real goal threat, having scored 26 goals in 2023/24 and an impressive 34 in 2024/25 for Premier Division North side Burnham.
Thank you once again for your support – it genuinely means a lot to me and the whole squad.
Enjoy the game, and don’t forget to say hello to Anthony, Craig and Justin on the BBQ. Make sure you grab yourself some of the best non-league grub around!
