Windsor & Eton Women vs Berks County Women

Match Report

Our fantastic start to their first ever season hit it’s first bump in the road as the team fell to their first defeat in an eventful game against Berks County at Stag Meadow

Berks won the ball back and countered down the right wing and scored with a well timed cut back to go ahead.

A defensive mix up forced by good pressure from Georgie, gave Laura the chance to equalise which she didn’t pass up.

Berks County broke the offside trap twice to lead 3-1 at half time.

Stevie won the ball immediately after half time and fed Georgie who calmly slotted past the keeper to get Windsor back into the game at 3-2

Berks County found space in behind again to restore their 2 goals lead 4-2 and then despite a great one on one save from Tabs, they went further ahead from a rebound 5-2

We kept hopes alive straight from kick off, Lauren spread the ball wide to Emma H who lobbed the keeper from the edge of the box to make it 5-3

Emma H played a lovely ball through to Georgie who, this time, took it round the keeper and really made it a tight contest at 5-4

A fortunate bounce left Berks County in again and their striker finished well but Sophie provided an assist for Georgie to claim her hat trick and make it 6-5 and game on going into the final minutes. Despite all of our efforts we couldn’t find an equaliser and they fell to their first defeat but with plenty of positives for Cathy’s side to use to bounce back
