Match Report
A crowd of 429 came through the gates of Stag Meadow to celebrate the end of our first season on Saturday. And with the sun shining brightly, Matt Angell’s side did not disappoint with an outstanding 7-1 win against Reading City U23s. It’s remarkable to think we actually went a goal behind when Sam Garofalo gave the visitors the lead in the 21st minute. It was lead that lasted barely 10 minutes before Jemel Johnson pulled the sides level. Oli Bach’s crisp shot put the home side ahead in the 38th minute to the delight of the home fans. Matt Angell made two changes at half time bringing on winger Isaiah Chase-Kelly and centre half Ben Diment, and the changes took effect when Jemel Johnson’s far post header made it 3-1 in the 63rd minute. Leading scorer Fiifi Carter got into the action when he rolled in number 4 in the 73rd minute. Jatinder Liddar made in 5 five minutes later, before Fiifi hit the top corner of the net to make it 6 in the 84th minute. Oli Bach still had time to get his second and the side’s 7th in injury time. It was an excellent performance to close off our first season. Roll on August!
