Match Report

On the 11th of April we faced Oxford based, Milton United as we approach crunch time in the season. Here’s how we got on…

We had a chance early on that nearly troubled Sammy Parker in goal. Kieren Jordan flashed a ball across the face of goal which came to the feat of Morrison Hashi. The forward laid off the ball to set Luke Phillips for the shot whose shot whistled just wide of the post.

Straight up the other end Milton registered a shot of their own. Their striker Tyrhs Lukonyomoi held up the ball well before he played in their winger who chopped onto his left foot before he had a strike on goal that rolled easily into the palms of Finley Purcell in goal.

Lukonyomoi had an attempt from range, as he tried to catch Purcell out who back peddled well and made a comfortable catch in the end.

It was a fine move down the left flank from us as Phillips was released down the wing before he cut back his cross to an awaiting Leo Decabo whose first time effort was struck with his weaker left foot. Goalkeeper Parker was equal to it and got down well to make the save.

We continued to create chances throughout the half and Nick Thumwood had the ball on the edge of the area and fired a shot towards goal that was blocked. The ball fell to Sam Hutchings on the half volley but his attempt was blocked and out for a corner.

It was Lukonyomoi again with the effort, who certainly looked the dangerman in this first half. He shifted the ball onto his left foot after making his way into the box and fired his shot well wide of the post.

On the stroke of half time Sam Hutchings drove forward in midfield before he unleashed a shot from range that curled wide.

A brilliant piece of play by Phillips nearly set up Hashi. The defender drove forward at pace and into the opposition area and played it back to Hashi. He took a touch before launched a shot at goal that stung the palms of Parker who tipped over for a corner.

We got the opener thanks to centre-back Tremayne Wooliscroft, his second goal of the season. A wicked delivery from Decabo was put right on top of the goalkeeper who could only palm the ball onto the post. The ball dropped nicely for Wooliscroft who made not mistake from firing us into the lead.

Decabo followed that one up with an even better strike, this one finding the top corner outright. Our midfielder was a good 25-30 yards from goal before he whipped his effort into the top left-hand corner, a brilliant strike.

We limited the away side to just a few attempts on goal as we looked to push the game out of sight with a third.

Hashi was played in by substitute Ben Catt, his shot was from close range but Parker made himself big and saved his effort.

In the 84th minute, Lukonyomoi gave his side hope and made the score 2-1. Substitute Chris Castle had the initial attempt which was saved by Purcell, only for the ball to drop kindly to the Milton number 9 to reduce the deficit.

In the 90th minute we out the game out of sight with a goal from Morrison Hashi. Substitute Juwon Akintunde held up the ball nicely before he turned and got off his effort on goal. Parker could only push it into the path of Hashi who made no mistake from six yards out to make it 3-1.

A great win at Stag Meadow in front of the fans.

We go again, on the 14th against Reading City.
