Match Report
In front of an excellent crowd of just shy of 300, Matt Angell’s side continued their impressive start to the season with an excellent 3-0 win at home to Chalfont St Peter on Tuesday evening. Chalfont themselves came into the game on the back of an encouraging start to the season, but it was the Royalists who started the game strongly. The returning Sean McDonnell and Tom Hennah provided better balance to the side down the flanks and Jemel Johnson worked the centre halves hard throughout the opening exchanges. Johnson himself had a great opportunity to put us ahead but put the ball went wide and Ross McKernan hit a cracking shot that the keeper only just kept out – it looked like it might bounce in! There was little surprise though when McKernan turned in Tom Hennah’s corner in the 37th minute. Matt Angell brought Ash Howes on in the second half and he added another dimension to the side, as did Adam Crocker who came on for Jemel Johnson in the 57th minute. Playing in an advanced role Adam headed us in the lead 8 minutes later, before putting the game beyond doubt with an excellent run and finish in the 74th minute. The three points puts us top of the table ahead of a top of the table clash at the weekend against Langley.
