Windsor & Eton win 5-4 on penalties
Matt Angell’s side progressed through to the next round of the Berks & Bucks Charles Twelftree Trophy thanks to a tense 5-4 penalty shoot out victory away at Reading YMCA. A hand-ball by defender Troy Baker saw the home side take the lead from the penalty spot when Pele Hagger drilled home in the 21st minute. Substitute James Clark pulled things level early in the second half and fellow substitute Fiifi Carter turned in Jemel Johnson’s cross in the 77th minute to put us 2-1 in front and in touching distance of the next round. But Tom Simon equalised for the home side 6 minutes from time. And so the tie headed to penalties. Both sides scored each of their first four spot-kicks, James Clark, Jude Van Spall, Oliwier Bach, and Fiifi Carter slotting home for us. But the home side couldn’t make it 5 out of 5 and so it was left to James Clark to strike the ball home and put us into the draw for the next round.
