Penn & Tylers Green vs Windsor & Eton

Matt Angell’s new look side started on the front foot in this opening game of the season and never looked back.

After only 2 minutes Ashley Howes had Windsor’s first shot of the campaign. His right foot effort grazing the post following good work by Ross McKernan.

The first goal of our CCL campaign came courtesy of Ben Catt. Catt reacted quickly to a goalmouth scramble following a Sean McDonnell corner, smashing the ball home whilst on the ground.

Jemel Johnson and Jatinder Liddar had weak efforts saved. Ash Howes’ header was grasped by the keeper and a Sean McDonnell effort was dragged wide.

The second goal came courtesy of Jemel Johnson. A sharp side foot finish after Tom Hennah had burst clear.

A five minute break followed, a lack of match balls causing the delay!

The home side had their first effort after that delay, Giordano Zabotti saving easily at his near post.

A low-key start to the second half saw Penn have two long range efforts, neither troubling the goalkeeper. The industrious Jatinder Liddar headed wide from a Tom Hennah free kick and Sean McDonnell drove wide from a tight angle minutes later. The game-sealing goal came courtesy of Tom Hennah’s left foot, smashing home from five yards after excellent play between Ross McKernan and Ethan Kitching. Ash Howes and Sean McDonnell were replaced and Windsor lost some of their attacking flare with the substitutions. From that point on it was a case of managing the game and recording a comfortable opening league fixture victory.

Windsor move onto a tough looking away trip to Oxhey Jets on Tuesday evening.
