Marlow U18s vs Windsor & Eton U18s

Match Report

Firstly I just want to apologise to anyone that made the trip over to Marlow to watch us. That first half performance was not what you deserve to see and certainly is representative of us a group. That performance does not match the standards of our great club.

It’s these small margins that we found difficult against some opponents that ultimately cost us the win. We just weren’t at the races at all in that first half and as the leader of the group I have to take responsibility for that and again I apologise to anyone that come to watch us. It’s my responsibility to fix this and my management team and I will be working hard to ensure we bounce back from this disappointment of a performance.

Marlow are an impressive side and I believe they will go on and win this competition but that is no excuse for the result. We’ve set ourselves a standard and our supporters expect this standard to be maintained and, as a group, we have to learn from the performance tonight.

We’re really pleased that Alex was able to make his U18’s debut at just 15 years old but we are all absolutely gutted that he had to come off with that injury. I’ve now spoken with his parents and thankfully it isn’t as bad as first thought. Still a break and we’re still expecting a long recovery time but we should see him back in training a lot sooner than first anticipated.

We now need to reflect on this performance. There were certainly some highlights, particularly in the second half, but we really need to have a think about this performance then move on. It’s done and there’s nothing we can do about the result. We need to fully focus on a tough away trip to Penn and Tyler on Monday night and how we can bounce back from this.
