Belstone vs Windsor & Eton

Match Report

Windsor & Eton had to settle for a point away at third-placed Belstone, twice leading before their hosts pegged them bag. Windsor were comfortable if not threatening early on and had half chances from Sean McDonnell, Sam Whitehead and Oli Graham before Oli Bach and Pawel Kowalkowski combined to give Windsor the lead. Pawel slotting home from 12 yards.

The hosts threatened mainly from set-pieces, long throw-ins into the box and corners, and it was from a late first half corner that they should have equalised. Kaci Henry heading wide.

A lethargic start to the second half saw Belstone flash a corner across the face of Conaill Ryan’s goal. It was Kaci Henry who equalised for the home side with a rasping left foot drive which found the top corner. The equaliser appeared to trigger a reaction from the Royalists, coupled with the introduction of Izzy Chase and Ben Catt, Chase shooting narrowly wide before setting up Oli Graham who dragged his shot past the post. Belstone continued to pepper the Windsor box with long throws and corner kicks but rarely troubled Conaill Ryan. Great work from Izzy Chase on the right wing resulted in Kowalkowski’s second of the match, a well directed header from an excellent Chase cross. Jemel Johnson had an effort saved and Tom Hennah an effort blocked before another Belstone long throw was only partially cleared allowing the home side to equalise with a looping shot from 18 yards.

Kowalkowski, Chase and Shaquille Johnson had late efforts to win the game but Windsor should feel satisfied with a point on the road.
