Thatcham Town U18s vs Windsor & Eton U18s

Match Report

It’s fair to say we have started quite strong. An unbeaten start. A point away from home against an organised, physical step four side was always a big ask but for the most part we stuck to our way of playing football but ultimately it is small margins that cost us the three points.

I’m delighted that the togetherness and the belief what we’re putting across as a management team is being shown on the pitch by our players and that is testament to their character and belief in themselves. Yeah, at times towards the end of the game we may have abandoned the philosophy and could’ve managed the game better as a group but we’re a young, developing side who will only develop further.

It’s impressive to see Henry on the scoresheet as he was another product of our Youth Section from what we brought through last season and another highlight of the pathway we have here at our club. His grit and determination at training and during games is the reason why we have instilled trust in him.

Winning is the absolute aim of this team and the ambition is to develop players through winning. We’re at a club whose culture is these standards and ultimately that is our job to win games of football. But I am really pleased with the way the side is developing into winners, having come such a long way since the start of pre season back in June.

Looking forward to an away trip to Burnham on Monday night to build on this positive performance. I’m sure we’ll see a few familiar faces of our supporters there for a local derby.
