We are aware that one individual who launched a petition which focused on the installation of a new gate and matchday restrictions at Stag Meadow, has since altered this same petition to now oppose the installation of a 3G pitch.
To be clear, that original petition, which he was absolutely within his rights to launch, concerned the car park gate and matchday stewarding arrangements. However, as we have communicated previously and throughout, these restrictions only apply every other Saturday afternoon and Tuesday evening when senior men’s matches are played. The car park remains fully open at all other times.
Far from making life harder for our neighbours, these changes have improved matters. By further enhancing the stewarding of the car park on matchdays, we have reduced disruption to residents and made the area safer and better managed, which was always our aim. One local resident who emailed the club recently put it simply: “It’s much calmer around here on matchdays now, the changes have definitely helped. Thank you.”
By now repurposing this same petition by changing its name and description into a campaign against the 3G pitch, this individual has effectively invalidated it. Signatures collected in good faith about one issue are now being presented as if they oppose something completely different. At best this is misleading; at worst it could be viewed as a dishonest representation of those who signed.
We want to be absolutely clear: Windsor & Eton FC is fully complying with all relevant planning obligations. We have engaged professional specialists and are working closely with RBWM to ensure our application addresses all statutory requirements. All of this information is in the public domain.
We welcome fair, open, and honest debate about the proposed 3G pitch. If residents have concerns, the proper way to share them is via the official consultation survey on our website, which ensures views are accurately recorded and considered.
