Wokingham Town Women vs Windsor & Eton

Match Report

Our Women’s side were aiming to make it 3 wins from 3 in their first ever league campaign away to Wokingham Town Ladies

The team struggled to settle into their calm passing approach which is becoming a hallmark in the early stages of their development but still created chances but several rushed finishes and some good goalkeeping from Wokingham’s stand in keeper on the day kept the game goalless.

The side fell behind when Wokingham found a gap in their right channel and took their big chance and then their character was really tested when they conceded a 2nd just before half time.

The team responded well and after good work down the right side, Laura McGregor looked like she might gobble up the chance but forced an own goal to give the team a boost before the break.

The team learned how to cope with the Wokingham threat better in the 2nd half and began to take control of the game once they’d found their passing range and confidence grew.

Some good work in midfield ended with Sophie Kinsman laying the ball back to Lauren Fallon who found the bottom corner from the edge of the box to bring Windsor level.

Striker George Hill then found her shooting boots and showed why she is becoming a name to fear in the league when the ball was laid off to her on the edge of the box and she dinked the keeper from 20 yards to put us ahead for the first time.

Wokingham Town equalised but with the game at 3-3 we kicked off and some slick passing from Stevie Romney, Lauren & Georgie presented the striker with a chance she took with a tucked finish in the bottom corner for a 4-3 lead.

Georgie wanted her hat trick and it was all her own doing for the goal which brought it up. After beating two players for pace & skill, her initial shot was bravely saved but she was not to be denied and slotted the rebound under the keeper to finally kill the game off.

Multiple goal thrillers are becoming the norm for Cathy’s side!
