Match Report
Matt Angell’s men maintained their long winning streak in the Thames Valley Premier League with a 4-0 win over a tough Maidenhead Town side at Stag Meadow. In front of an excellent crowd of 361, the day began with a minute’s applause for the sad passing of supporter Simon Broad. When the game got underway, it took just 8 minutes for Fiifi Carter to be upended in the penalty area. Fiffi picked up the ball and took the resulting spot-kick and put the home side ahead with his 11th goal of the season. It took the side just two minutes to double the lead when Fiifi Carter’s effort was parried on to the post by the keeper and rebounded into the path of Jatinder Liddar to poke the ball home. The visitors came out much stronger in the second half and tested George Armstrong on several occasions, but substitute Shaquille Johnson put the game to bed in the 72nd minute, with a powerful solo effort that gave the keeper no chance. New signing Ash Howes nearly marked his debut with a goal, but after a mazy run, unselfishly crossed for Jemel Johnson to make it four, and secure another 3 points for the home side.
