We continue our getting to know you section. This week we speak to Conaill Ryan. A less structured football chat, more a general quickfire question and answer. No wrong answers.

If you could go back in time, would you? And where to?

“Yes, I would and to when Brentford got promoted from the championship. I was lucky to be one of a few thousand to get to go because of Covid and arguably one of the best days of my life!”

“how laid back I am, even though it does cause problems sometimes.”

What’s your worst habit?

“Definitely forgetting to wash my under gloves after playing, you can imagine the smell!”

What makes you most angry?

“Not many things make me angry really, in football it would have to be conceding a scrappy goal.”

How do you react under pressure?

“I find myself doing things the best.”

What do you dream about when you sleep?

“At the moment the only dream I’m having is winning the league.”

Favourite phrase or word?

“Especially as a teacher, it is ‘actions speak louder than words’”

“Very superstitious. When I’m playing I have to have two pairs of socks and gloves on, otherwise completely throws me off.”

Your first footballing memory?

“I remember clearly was Brentford (again), but this time losing to Carlisle at Wembley in what was called the Johnstone Paint Trophy.”

One song that makes you feel good?

“Beautiful Day by U2.”

Your karaoke song?

“Would have to be Sweet Caroline, a no brainer!”

“Calahonda in Spain, basically grew up going on holiday there.”

“my dogs, Bono and Monty.”

What colour do you look good in?

“Red”

Worst fear?

“Definitely spiders, hate them.”

How would you like to be remembered?

“Someone who always gives 100%, no matter the occasion.”
