Comp: Great Western Suburban League

Windsor & Eton's first involvement in Premier Division football for the first time since 2005 finished with a 1-1 draw away at Tiverton Town.

The match was a contest of possession versus chances with the home side enjoying the possession and the Royalists the chances.

The match had barely started when Jake Parson's cross found David Pearce and his header was cleared off the line by Tom Gardener.

Pearce then had a second chance to put Windsor ahead when he made room for a chance that was parried by Chris Wright.

Tiverton skipper Adam Faux then almost gifted Windsor the lead when he came close to heading Justin Clayton's long free kick into his own net.

Michael Chennells then flicked Pearce's cross goalwards but could not find a way past Wright and Windsor continued to look like the more likely to score.

Tiverton were not completely without chances in the half as Joe Bushin thought he had given his side the lead when he turned the ball into the net only for the assistant referee's flag to cut the celebrations short.

Windsor looked as if they would hold out to half time but a deep cross from the right found the head of Adam Mortimer to give Tiverton the lead.

The second half started the same as the first with Windsor looking like they should have more to show than the zero scoreline.

Tiverton failed to clear a free kick allowing Parsons to send the ball back in where Chennells header was saved.

Tivvy should have killed the game off and made Windsor pay for their missed chances.

Mortimer and Bushin again went clear but either sent the ball wide or were denied by Preddie.

Chennells continued to go close and the introduction of Ryan Bernard caused issues for Tivvy especially when pushed up as a third forward.

Windsor finally got the goal they deserved when Preddie picked out Pearce on the left and his cross was turned in by Chennells.

It could have all gone wrong right on full time when Colin Marshall raced through only to denied by a superbly time challenge from David Woozley.
