After their opening day draw away at Tiverton Town, Windsor & Eton were brought down to earth with a bang losing 4-0 at home to Cirencester Town.

First half goals form Jamie Reid and Marcus Palmer and second half strikes from Scott Mason and Carl Brown subjected the Royalists to their biggest competitive defeat for years.

The match got off to a bad start with Windsor going behind after just 3 minutes when Tom Etheridge's corner bounced over the head of Delroy Preddie allowing Jamie Reid to head in.

It was 2-0 just 10 minutes later when a long ball into the corner found an un-challenged Marcus Palmer who lifted the ball over an on-rushing Preddie and into the net.

Windsor should have pulled a goal back within a few minutes when Ikenna Ofoche shrugged off Matt Walsh to cross but Jemel Johnson was unable to get anything on the ball.

Cirencester could have had the game wrapped up by half time when Carl Brown got through but this time Windsor were rescued by the foot of the post.

The second half saw a double change for Windsor with Sam Wadieh and Michael Chennells coming on for Ikenna Ofoche and Adam Dickens, but it did nothing to help the cause.

Despite a better start to the half compared to the first the outcome was still the same with the few chances that were created going to waste.

The match was over as a contest on 65 minutes when Etheridge's free kick found Scott Mason unchallenged at the far post to head in.

Another free kick ten minutes later saw Carl Brown turn in at the far post for a fourth Cirencester goal.

The visitors were lucky to finish the match with 11 players when a horror tackle from Etheridge on Chris Owens was only deemed to warrant a yellow card from referee Bull.

The Royalists will now look to Saturday and hope they can get something from the visit of Leamington.
