If Windsor & Eton are due to go out of business this week, then they are going to go out all guns blazing.
Despite an early goal from Decio Gomes, from a Darren Campion corner, they soon rallied back and pulled level.
Jake Parsons' free-kick was brought down by Dave Woozley allowing new signing Dwane Lee to score on his debut.
Hednesford were soon back in front when Gomes was quickest to react to Ashley Woolliscroft's free-kick.
The second-half saw a strong start for the visitors with Danny Quinn being denied by a fine save from Rob Bullivant, closely followed by Chris Clements hitting two efforts wide of the post.
Windsor were back level moments later when new boy Lee set talented Michael Chennells through with his first effort being saved, he was able to follow up into an empty net.
Just after the hour, Windsor went ahead. Neat passing between Parsons and Chennells set the Windsor winger to shoot. The Hednesford keeper spilled and Dave Pearce tapped in.
The final stages were bright and the hosts were unlucky not to stretch their advantage.
Their 17-year-old sub George Gould almost settled things but Windsor's fans were delighted that their team hung on for the win - with the next few days critical to their future.
